E. C. Burley, Sr. Memorial Scholarship
In an effort to magnify the importance of education, we are committed to assisting individuals in need of financial assistance to fulfill their dream and reap the rewards of a higher education that will benefit not only themselves, but society through knowledge gained and services rendered.
The E. C. Burley, Sr. Memorial Scholarship was established on November 19, 1991 by the Angelina County Citizens Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (The Chamber) in honor of Ecomet C. Burley, Sr.
Mr. Burley served the Lufkin community with distinction. He attended Texas College in Tyler, Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Art Degree in English. Earned his Masters in Educational Administration from Prairie View A & M University. Later, he completed postgraduate programs at Tuskegee Institute and the University of Rhode Island.
General eligibility requirements to be considered are as follows:
- Have a minimum grade point average of 2.30 (on a 4.0 scale).
- Be accepted into an accredited college or university.
- Reside within Angelina County.
